Upcoming retirement of Greg Meekings, as Trustee Chair

After 18 years as Trustee Chair, Greg Meekings has decided to retire. With the support of the rest of the Trustee Board, fellow Trustee Catherine Redmond representing BESTrustees will be appointed by the scheme’s sponsor, London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG), to replace him in March 2023.

Greg Meekings commented “I am immensely proud of what your Trustees and I have achieved over my tenure. RPF is in a strong funding position, and we weathered the recent economic storm very well. RPF is also supported by an excellent group of advisors. Having spent considerable time handing over to Catherine and got to know her personally I am confident that RPF will remain in excellent hands”.

Commenting on the change Ava Lau, Head of Reward Analytics and Optimisation at LSEG, said “Greg has been an excellent chair of the RPF and has carefully navigated the scheme through multiple periods of change.  We would like to express our immense gratitude and thanks and wish him well in retirement.

We are delighted that Catherine will be taking over the Chair role.  I have worked with Catherine since 2019 when she joined the Trustee Board of the LSEG Pension Scheme.  I have witnessed first-hand the level of professionalism and industry best practice she brings to pension schemes.  Representing a professional trustee firm, she will also be able to draw on the extensive experience within BESTrustees.  We are confident that Greg is leaving the scheme in very safe hands and look forward to continuing to work collaboratively with the Trustee Board”.

Catherine Redmond, who was appointed a Trustee in October 2022, is an independent professional pension trustee with BESTrustees Limited and has extensive experience of chairing defined benefit pension plans. Catherine is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries as well as an accredited member of the Association of Professional Pension Trustees. Catherine said ”I am delighted to succeed Greg as Trustee Chair, and on behalf of the board would like to thank him for his excellent leadership and dedication to members’ interests”.
